What happens during chiptuning?
Every injection engine is equipped with an ECU, called the Electronic Control Unit. The ECU controls injection, air/fuel ratios and ignition timing, among other things. This is all as a function of parameters, such as: RPM, air temperature and density, throttle position, battery voltage, etc. In turbo engines, the ECU also determines the charge pressure. All this data is collected by one or more (EPROM) chips. During chiptuning, the original stored information in the chip(s) is replaced with optimized data to increase power and torque. The result is a more pleasant and smooth engine character. ATM-Chiptuning takes into account applicable European emission requirements during optimization.
